To celebrate this joyous occasion, we thought we'd post an excerpt from the memoir book: Elizabeth Grant My Life -- My Story.

In the beginning, life was good. My father, who I called Papa, owned a very modern and successful blouse factory capable of mass production. We enjoyed great affluence. Papa drove a fashionable, jazz-hott Dailmler, and I recall my mother dressed in an elaborate full-length beaded gown that cost a hundred pounds at a time when a loaf of bread was a penny. As in most good homes, there were servants and a nanny.

Mummy had a great zest for life. My mother was strikingly beautiful. She was tall, about five-feet-nine; she had alabaster skin and a head of thick, black curls bobbed short. One of my earliest memories of my mother is how I remember watching her at her dressing table. Every night she'd brush her hair one hundred times, and we'd count together. Then, she would apply her creams, always in the same order--and she taught me how to use makeup and perfume. She was very modern and had a natural sense of style. These are rosy memories for me.

I also have wonderful, vivid memories of moments with my father. He adored me, and he doted on me when it was utterly unfashionable for fathers to behave in this manner. He'd stroke my hair and talk to me as an adult. Even though I was a mere child, he took me to the factory to show me the amazing world of spinning threads and bobbins. My father encouraged me to touch different fabrics, explaining how they were made. I was amazed at the difference between cotton and silk.

The Truth about SLS and SLES

With more individuals becoming curious about the ingredients in their bath and body products, SLS and SLES have been under the microscope for many consumers.

So What are SLS and SLES? Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) are surface active agents, used in soap, shampoos, detergents and toothpastes to create a foaming action when the products are in use. Many assume that SLS and SLES are ingredients that are the same, however they are not.

SLS is a chemical that penetrates deep into the skin and can cause irritation. SLES, although a close relative to SLS, has been proven to cause very little to no irritation to skin surfaces as it is not absorbed by the skin.

Today, SLS and SLES are mainly found in household cleaning products and detergents. Many skin care and beauty brands have either traded in these chemicals for more natural ingredients for their cleansers and body washes or use SLS – a more natural and organic cousin of SLS and SLES.

In some skin and body care products, there may be slight traces of SLES. However, SLES in small doses is not harmful to humans and its safety has been proven through many scientific studies.

How Dirty Is Your Makeup?

....what sort of question is that? I know it sounds nutty but how often have you really thought about that? I can guarantee not much! But all it sadly takes is one pink eye infection to realize.. Our makeup is probably the 2nd dirtiest thing in our bathroom. And something we never worry about sharing.

Even though you can't see the bacteria on your makeup, think about it: you touch your face, then your makeup and then your face again. Or even better your friend comes by and "just needs a touch up", her face is now touching your makeup, then her face again... this cycle is a germaphobe's nightmare. Our natural oils and dead skin cells are going all over your favourite compact. Gross right?

So how can you disinfect your favourite makeup goodies? Rubbing Alcohol and a spray bottle. It's the easiest way to disinfect your makeup quickly instantly ( just don't drown your products) . This can be done every few months, or once a week, depending on how much you use a particular product.
So Now What?

Powders: Pour rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle, lightly spray your eye shadow, blush, bronzer, pressed powder etc., without saturating. Leave the lids open to dry a bit.

Lipstick: Two options here: 1) dip a Qtip in rubbing alcohol or 2)Pour rubbing alcohol into a small cup. Dip the lipstick ( or Qtip) into the rubbing alcohol, wipe gently with tissue, and put the lid back on.

Liquid makeup and Mascara: collects more bacteria and cannot be disinfected the same way so it’s important that you follow the guidelines on when to throw it out.

Tips on how to prevent bacteria:

Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before putting on makeup
Use makeup brushes so your fingers never have to touch the product.
If you don't have brushes? Steer clear of makeup that exposes all the product from opening it and that you have to stick your finger in.
Don’t share makeup, or makeup brushes. If you do, always disinfect before you use them again.
I do recommend if you are sharing, invest in separate mascara wands!

Tea is liquid wisdom..for Sunburns?

BEST SUNBURN REMEDY: TEA!

After 4 hours at the beach without sunscreen, you could imagine I had a sunburn. It takes a few hours for my skin to show if I got any colour, so after lying under the direct sunlight for hours, I went home to see that my skin was red. A few hours later I checked out my skin and it was lobster red.

So I started with the Vitamin E gel and Aloe gel, reapplying every 30 minutes. After having quite a few bad sunburns I’ve realized it only gets worse before it gets better. After a few days it got more painful and I figured out that the Aloe and Vitamin E really didn’t help my burn. The pain from applying it wasn’t worth the temporary relief. I looked up sunburn remedies and I saw the usual; aloe, cold shower, vinegar. But I kept stumbling across one that my friend had mentioned to me..... Tea. Everyone who mentioned it said you had to do this right away or it wouldn’t work. I tried it anyway, at this point I would try anything... unfortunately for me... it didn’t work. So I suffered through the pain, the

sticky skin, and finally the peeling for over a week. I realized I needed to do something right after I got the burn so it would go away before it turned bad.

A few weeks later I got another burn ( you would think I would have learned) after being outside all day. Instead of worrying about going through the pain of a sunburn that would surely show up the next day, I tried “the tea thing”. I made some orange pekoe tea, poured it into a bowl, let it cool, and soaked a towel in it. Then I put the towel on my burn. I lied down reading my book for about 30 minutes with the cool, tea soaked towel on my back. I took it off and went to bed, and when I woke up the next morning I was extremely pleased with my skin. I had a tan!

You could imagine my excitement when I realized that I didn’t have to live through another burn again because of my newfound discovery. However, I have also learned that one bad burn today is not as minuscule as I make it to be. If you want a tan, be sun smart, you have one skin... so be good to it!

Inspired by sailors and started almost 100 years ago by Coco Chanel when she was having an affair with the Duke of Westminster. He was a yachting admirer and Chanel started dressing like the sailors. She made the men’s sailing apparel suitable for women and just like Christmas is every December, you can expect the nautical trend to come back every summer. Here are a few tips on how to wear it…

For the ideal look, you want your colours to include: red, blue, and white, and the pattern to be stripes.

- Add in some neon for a pop of colour. ( another fun summer trend)

-Minimize your accessories, and use raw materials.

-Go for breezy, it is summer after all!

-My little tip? Make one item in your outfit striped, and the rest patternless.

Beauty & Fashion News- Katy Perry Rocks Out in Toronto

Over the screams of 14,000 fans on Thursday, June 30th at the Air Canada Centre, you could still clearly hear Katy Perry bust out to Teenage Dream wearing a sparkly dress with spinning peppermint pinwheels.

This erratic performer’s talent goes beyond singing. Her performance included giant lollipops, giant beach balls, fireworks, a floating cotton candy cloud, a dancing gingerbread man, a giant dancing Kitty Purry, mimes, acrobats, and a whip cream cannon! Her outfits were, of course, fantastic and her makeup consisted of her usual pink lips and huge eyelashes.

Her outfits changed countless times from puffy pink dresses, to peacock feathers, to slim-fitted studded body suits. During her performance of Hot N Cold she managed 8 costume changes while on stage! What didn’t change was her ability to keep the crowd captivated by her journey through candy land; which was shown on screen during her outfit changes. The audience was constantly wowed by her insane clothing choices and new hair. You would expect nothing less from this zany pop star, but she went above and beyond to prove that she is “kind of a goofball”, as she stated during the show.

Beauty School- How to get that perfect ‘fake’ tan

It's almost that time of year again- time to bare your gorgeous gams in shorts and skirts. As you prepare for spring fashion, remember that there is only one way to get a safe golden glow- self tanner. Read on for Margot Grant's (Beauty Director at Elizabeth Grant Skin Care) foolproof tips to get a perfect tan.

1) Always exfoliate in the shower first before applying any self tanner.

2) Use a barrier cream on drier areas of the skin. If you don’t these areas will go a darker and uneven colour. This means putting Vaseline/ regular moisturizer around nails, etc.

3) Always be sure to wash hands immediately after applying.

4) The creams that add a gradual colour are best. This way you don’t go overly dark for your natural skin tone.

5) Test a small hidden patch of skin first. You do no want to apply a formula that looks orangish- and end up with Snookie-like results!

6) Apply cream all over body on dry skin. Start around your feet and work your way up your body. Have someone apply the cream to your back and hard to reach places if you can (and enjoy!). Apply the cream a little more sparingly around face and neck.

7) Don’t put your clothes on right away. If you can, wait 10 minutes, or you may run the risk of staining your clothes or getting streaky results on your skin. You do NOT want a fake sock tan line!

8) If you make a mistake, and the colour looks blotchy on your skin and too dark in certain areas, etc- exfoliate, and try to gently rub away at the problem areas with a cotton ball and nail polish remover.

9) Remember- self tanners do not protect your gorgeous glowing skin from the sun. You still need to apply an SPF every time your skin is exposed to the sun.

Elizabeth Grant Skin Care and The Shopping Channel have just launched an incredible initiative- The Elizabeth Grant Ambassador Program in support of Women Moving Women.

Five women have been selected from across Canada to be ‘Elizabeth Grant Ambassadors’ and take part in this project that will help fund programmes for the Canadian’s Women Foundation. These wonderful women were all brought to Toronto in January to meet Elizabeth and find out what being an ‘Elizabeth Grant Ambassador’ really means.

The ladies were well taken care of during their visit with a five star lunch at Auberge du Pommier, a sightseeing trip around the city of Toronto, and they were treated to a private tour of The Shopping Channel. These Ambassadors had a first rate vacation, but the job that lies ahead is not just a simple walk in the park.

The true meaning of Ambassador role is to succeed in raising money for an important cause. After their Toronto visit, each one of these women returned to their homes across Canada to tackle their main duty and start fundraising. The Ambassadors are required to raise funds in their own communities over the next six months and report back to TSC and Elizabeth Grant as they go. They can be as creative as they want in their means of raising money- with most of the women focusing on home based events and silent auctions.

We salute these wonderful women as they embark on a journey that is so important to women across Canada. Did you know that 1 in 7 women in Canada lives in poverty? And when women live in poverty, so do their children: 1 million children in Canada live under the poverty line. The money raised through the Elizabeth Grant Ambassador Program will go towards helping empower Canadian women living in poverty, helping them get back on their feet, both financially and personally.

Marion Witz is based out of Toronto, Canada. This past Friday night out on the town established just what we’d been hoping- that there are a lot of men out there willing to (slightly) modify their good looks for a good cause. Everywhere we turned, guys were sporting the early signs of a growing moustache. Strange normally, yes- but not this month. If you’ve been an avid reader of the Torricelumn Girl Blog, you’re likely already familiar with our beautiful spokesmodel, Hofit Golan. For our newer readers – just have a look through the elizabethgrant.com website and you’ll see some of the work we have done with Hofit. We’ve done many glamorous photo shoots with Hofit around the world and the pictures always turn out incredible.

This is one of the most famous pictures we’ve captured of Hofit for Elizabeth Grant Skin Care. The shoot took place at the Blake’s Hotel in London with photographer John Oakley. This image has been used in Elizabeth Grant advertisements placed in international luxury magazines and it was also recently featured in a Harper’s Bazaar article.

Of course, to be the Elizabeth Grant spokesmodel- you can’t just be a pretty face- and Hofit certainly proves that. One of the busiest women we know, Hofit is also the face of OK! TV in the UK, the host of FTV worldwide, and a fashion designer. She is constantly jetting off to the most exclusive and fascinating places, meeting the type of people that regular folks can only dream of schmoozing with. Hofit is also heavily involved in the charity circuit and is proud to be an ambassador for the Global Angel’s Foundation.

From London to Japan to Africa, Hofit is often followed by a camera crew to provide glamorous, chic, and fashionable clips for FTV. Be ready for some humour too, as Hofit’s sense of wit is also always present in her work.

NYC and the Anti-Aging Diet

The Torricelumn Girls headed down to the big apple this week for the HBA Expo. We attended a few seminars to keep ourselves on top of the happenings in the beauty industry and to sharpen our social media skills. While the information gained is probably a bit too dry (but tres useful!) to share on the blog- we do want to share the most random fact of the expo:

Do you suffer from hyper-pigmentation? This is a major concern for women interested in anti-aging. If you do- stop eating limes!

Who knew? Limes are a cause of blotchy darkened skin. This random fact brought to light some interesting research on diet and how it affects the aging process. Just like the old adage ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ -well, now it’s 'An apple a day keeps the Botox away!' The message here is eat well, stay healthy, and look younger by eating a highly nutritious diet.

For more information on what to eat for an anti-aging diet, click here to read a very informative article on Women Fitness. The basics are- maintaining a diet high in antioxidants, vitamin E, and water will keep you looking younger for longer.

While waiting for my flight back home this past weekend, I did the usual airport routine. That means, scoping out the duty-free, picking up a copy of Vogue (The Age Issue!), and stocking up on all my favourite celebrity weeklies.

Literary Corner- A little class, a little trash, and a whole lot of inspiration

A couple of new books came onto my radar this week that I was quite taken with and thought the rest of the Torricelumn Girls out there might want to know about them too.

Derek Blasberg has just released his first book called ‘Classy- Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady'. It’s a contemporary etiquette book for the pretty young things. In his book, Blasberg gives honest advice and tips to live by all in a cheeky humorous tone- but don’t get me wrong- he means what he says. He also includes a lot of ‘what not to do’ when trying to climb the social ladder. Mr. Blasberg is the Editor at Large for Style.com and a contributing editor for Harper’s Bazaar so I think he is definitely an authority on the subject he writes on.

I attended his Toronto book signing party at The Room earlier this week and picked up a copy of ‘Classy’. Derek was lovely and it was a great fete. The book is gorgeous. It’s laid out like a magazine and reminds me of the ‘Tiffany’s Table Manners for Teenagers’ book- that same stunning Tiffany blue.

The other book that really caught my attention this week is called ‘Every Monday Matters: 52 ways to make a difference.’ This book is written by Matthew Emerzian and Kelly Bozza. ‘Every Monday Matters’ is based on the premise that most of us hate Mondays- so why not turn it around and use Mondays to make a positive impact and change the ‘image’ of that dreaded first day of the week.

52 Mondays, 52 activities, 52 ways to make a difference. Some of the ideas presented in this book are easier than others. But they are all simple to incorporate into your life. For example, Monday # 21 learn CPR, Monday #24 don’t honk, Monday #35 go exercise, and Monday #44 use online bill pay. Interesting, isn’t it? This is about people taking personal responsibility to make a difference.

Look Good Feel Better

Last night the Torricelumn Girls attended the annual Champagne and Crystals event- an annual soirée put on by Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) to honour the companies that the support their vital organization.

Look Good Feel Better is a charitable program founded by the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association and is committed to helping women manage the appearance related effects of cancer and its treatment. By taking control of how they look, using cosmetics, skincare and hair alternatives, women with cancer can strengthen the positive attitude that is so important in cancer treatment – and feel better about themselves.

Elizabeth Grant International has been a big supporter of the program for several years now by donating products and company time to their initiatives. For this past year, Elizabeth Grant Skin Care donated Eye Renewal Serum for ‘The Confidence Kit’. The kit is given to women attending LGFB workshops held in cancer care centres and hospitals around the country. Eye Renewal Serum is a great product for these women enduring treatment because it’s so moisturizing and soothing to even the most tired skin.

The event is always such an honour to attend, knowing that the company we work for gives so much back to the community. This is one incredible program that Elizabeth Grant International will always support. That said- the Torricelumn Girls found last night a little emotional at times. One woman that spoke at the reception is a 34 year old single mother. She has been attending the workshops over the last 6 months and she expressed how much LGFB has truly helped her in the fight against cancer. Also, on an even more personal level- one of the Torricelumn Girls has dealt with cancer in a close family member over this past year so the whole event really hit close to home (side note- that family member has recently been given a very healthy diagnosis!).

Well, they don’t call the event ‘Cocktails and Crystals’ for nothing- the Torricelumn Girls went home with a great big crystal award. Elizabeth Grant International was recognized as a Ruby Supporter of LGFB for donations of over $200,000. Congratulations Elizabeth Grant International!

Listening to the radio this morning and heard the following:
"In regards to the economy, is the bailout necessary... if the jobs that ARE being created, are the ones no one wants?"

How did this come about? Was it just on the coattails of Obama's speech last night; where he admitted that we needed the bailout now--Or is it just a repetition? We are creatures of habit. Our successes, failures, and schedules are repeated throughout history books and played out through our everyday medias. Some people are not a-typical scheduled human beings, but they do follow the "rules" and "procedures" of a society. Each individual is regimented by their own and individual chaotic order.

To each their own, but it doesn't bring up any new issues...Is it pride, or is it compromise? When do we say our pride is one thing, but to have a life, and a decent life is another? When is it living to obtain what we want? More so, how do we separate the idea of what we think we want, and what we actually need? There is no real answer other then our pride is what defines our actions. But why wouldn't we? We are creating the worst case scenarios for ourselves - and getting a friendly bailout of our own....hello Octomom?????

Growing up, people studied History, and no one knew about how things could have gotten so bad just before the Great Depression. Where the economy crumbled, aka where our society's safety net crumbled. It led to cutting back on comforts, our own comforts, and lifestyles we created. It only took the ending of WW1 to be "the wars to end all wars" to go back to "normal". Where life wanted to be lived again-- to live in the moment, carpe diem and all that jazz.... but we never did unstand the unstable economy at the time. It didn't take long for our joys to become the Great Depression...It is an equal part funny and scary to be living the history we once only read about.

To Paraben or Not To Paraben.... That is THE Question

A lot of people have been writing in and asking if Parabens are bad for you..... but a lot of the time people are just going on half truths, that they hear through the grapevine. So here it is folks, the cold hearted truth about Parabens is.... that they are not that bad ;-)

Paraben Information

What are Parabens, and what do they do?

A group of commonly used cosmetic/personal care product ingredients generally referred to as “Parabens” are methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, isopropyl and isobutylparaben. They are ingredients known as preservatives that are highly effective in preventing the growth of fungi and bacteria and are used to preserve products and greatly extend their shelf life. Thus, they contribute directly to the quality of the product and, more importantly, its safe use for the consumer. Parabens have been used for decades as preservatives in the food, drug and personal care and cosmetic industries.

There have been a number of articles and Internet rumors over the last couple of years that have reported an association between Parabens and breast cancer. It is implied in these reports that Parabens can cause breast cancer by acting like estrogen, the female sex endocrine hormone, through a process called endocrine disruption. Some of these studies suggest a very weak estrogenic or endocrine disrupting effect of Parabens. However, these studies, which have been conducted in animals, are observed only when they are dosed with extremely high amounts of Parabens – far greater than anyone would be exposed to under actual conditions of use or with repeated use. The simple fact is that the Parabens are 100,000 times weaker than natural estrogen in the body - far too weak to have any effect in humans.

Are Parabens safe?

Preservatives are added to personal care and cosmetic products to prevent the growth of fungi and bacteria that may be introduced by the consumer during use. Any product that contains water is susceptible to being spoiled by the growth of fungi or bacteria, causing problems such as unsightly mold growth, discoloration, malodor or breakdown of the product. Under certain conditions, an inadequately preserved product can become contaminated, allowing dangerous levels of microorganisms to grow. Cosmetic products may be exposed to bacteria and fungi during product use due to contact with the skin or applicators that contact the skin. Parabens are widely used in all types of cosmetics to prevent these changes and protect the consumer.

The U.S. FDA has classified methyl and propylparaben as GRAS, which means they are Generally Regarded As Safe by medical and toxicological experts for use in preserving food. The FDA has also stated that Parabens are safe for use in cosmetics.

Under European Cosmetic regulations, Parabens have been reviewed for safety by the European Commission and are allowed for use as cosmetic preservatives.

Parabens provide clear benefit by effectively protecting the product against the growth of potentially harmful microorganisms. Based on the weight of current scientific evidence, there is no reason for consumers to be concerned about the use of cosmetic and personal care products containing Parabens.

More Information:

Some scientific studies have suggested that butyl and possibly propylparaben can mimic the effect of the endocrine hormone estrogen when tested at very high concentrations in cell cultures and female mice. This effect is sometimes referred to as endocrine disruption. Some recent studies have claimed that there is a link between Paraben exposure, particularly in underarm cosmetics, and breast cancer caused by endocrine disruption. These studies have been largely discredited by the scientific community, particularly by those who study the toxic effects of chemicals on the body. In fact, scientists who study the effects of products on the population (epidemiologists) have found no direct link between underarm products and breast cancer (1).

Many materials found in plants used as food also have an estrogenic effect. These naturally occurring materials are called phytoestrogens and are present in soy and other fruits and vegetables. Some of these phytoestrogens, when tested in the same way as Parabens, give similar estrogen-like results. However, Parabens have been shown to be 10,000 times weaker than the most potent phytoestrogens and 100,000 times less potent than estradiol, the estrogen produced naturally by the body. Most scientists agree that there is no endocrine- disrupting effect from the use of Parabens in cosmetic and personal care products because their action, if any, is so weak.

A Rose By Any Other Name....

We all know NYC is my favorite city...it's my heart. So any excuse I can have to go down I take. But you add NYC and Charity--and I am there faster then you can say the boarding gate number. For any of you who do not know, one of our top charities is Gabrielle Angels Foundation--Formally known as the G&P Foundation.

It was an official name change party, with hopes to gain attention to the cause, from the sexy celebs to the a-list media who were in attendance. Even though the food was FABULOUS and the evening was something not to be missed, we always have to remember it's one thing to party --it is another to go to a beautifully orchestrated charity event. Throughout the course of the evening we raised $1.5 million dollars to help fund the fight against cancer--but not just fight it... cure it.

The evening was Gorgeous-- as I had the chance to spend time with Alan Cummings, who was telling me all about his new campaign to fight HIV/AIDS and bring attention to safe sex. Not ignorance. I cannot wait for it to come out and when it does, you know you will be the first to see it! From there he jetted out the door to Rome for the evening ( see why I love him?)

The floor was opened by a moving speech by Fergie, the Dutchess of York and closed with a motivational speech from Cancer SURVIVOR, Evan Handler--these events sometimes are not done that well.... BUT Gabrielle Angels Foundation, always delivers an amazing evening.

Never to be outdone the music heavy weights came out in force, Patti Labelle sang a rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that left the room speechless. I will post the video later. And just before we began to groove I found myself chatting with Akon (ummm hello?!?) , Ashanti, Clive Owen, and Chrisitna Milian--who loved the fact I work out to some of her tunes.

I am a proud supporter of this organization, as cancer is a battle affected by everyone, and we here at EG are determined to see it cured in out lifetime!

It's Been A Whirlwind --But Hey That's The Nature of The Game!

It all began as a simple week, next thing you know, I am in three countries in a week and a half! Crossing borders, time zones and oceans may be sexy to some.... hell it's sexy to me too!

What a bang it began with, the 33rd Annual Toronto Film Festival (aka TIFF)! Bringing it home to Toronto, EG was on the scene in a BIG way! First and foremost only the top VIP's got their hands on EG products in the official Tribute gift bag.

From the bags, to the scene--we hopped on board with the guru behind the official parties, press conferences and just the laid back lounges of TIFF with PeachStone Media's William Hamilton. With his trusted hand, we got to spend the likes with the up and coming and the established in the entertainment industry! Elizabeth in Her Younger Years

Every so often someone approaches me and asks, what was Elizabeth like when she was younger? For me there is only one way to respond-- Exactly like she is now. She was as vibrant as she is today, as charismatic, intelligent, funny, stylish and of course--gorgeous.

She always has been a beauty, and in her younger years this was no exception--she was the envy of her peers. With jet-black hair, porcelain skin, she valued manners, intelligence and always followed her cardinal rule: "Be charming, be charming, be charming"

Her personality and charm rivaled Screen Siren Audrey Hepburn, her humor was always at par with Lucille Ball--she was a power house then, and only fine tuned her personality with age.

EG is riding the Pineapple Express all the way to Coldplay---

Last week was a lot of fun! After being able to run around the world seeing what's up--it is sometimes nice when the fun comes to you. The TG girls were off last week and hitting the ground running, after an impromptu invitation to the Press Screening of the movie "Pineapple Express" http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/pineappleexpress/ we couldn't stop laughing! Two hours this movie kept us entertained and rolling in the aisles. And with the recycling of movie plots these days it is always nice to be thoroughly entertained!

The following day was "Backstage with Coldplay" as they hit their press circuit for their Toronto shows. Yeah-- I did indeed just say chilling with Coldplay, but to be exact Jonny Buckland and Chris Martin. These two are disgustingly funny, we had such a nice time with them. It was just a regular day with the two of these superstars and along for the ride the ever so charming Ben Mulroney and the gorgeous Tanya Kim to add their own personal charm to the interview. Not only were we with these four outstanding individuals but to also be invited to sit in the audience ( second row, center with the press... to be exact) of their ETalk Daily Special, how could we say no?

Lately we have been getting a few emails in the office about some posts on the blog. We love knowing you are reading the blog, but if you have issues, or comments about what is appearing on the blog--talk about it on the blog!

We want to hear your feedback, we want to hear what you are excited about and yes... even what you are not happy about in a blogpost. So in future please direct your comments here, as the EG office staff will tell you to do the same...

From Heidi to Petra---Super Models Love EG!!

It's one of those things, is being beautiful really that easy? Of course not! Everyone needs to take care of themselves every now and then....and super models are no exception. However it is always nice to know that even the most Gorgeous Woman ( and men) actually use a few products themselves to keep them looking that way!

I am never 100% sure why I get so lucky, but frankly who can complain with helping people out in luxurious scenarios? Petra Nemcova flies into the Cote D'Azur-- after a long exhausting flight, I met with her on the private yacht she was staying on-- the timing could not have been better! As she walked in I handed over her EG goodies, when I did... she simply said , and I quote " this is EXACTLY what I needed--can you bring over some more so I can bathe in it?" bathe in it?!?!?! What a quote! For the two weeks that followed, a daily supply of EG products were personally delivered to Petra ( she's GORGEOUS). Her personal favourite? EG's Caviar Eye Pads...they really are something fantastic.

Which brings us to Vogue, yes the fashion magazine... the guru of the fashion world. We were asked to contribute to their editor's bag (oh my!) for their most recent function in NYC. What does every woman ( and man) on the go need to make sure they always look like they have had 8 hours of sleep? Yes you guessed it Caviar Eye Pads! How do we know this? Because Heidi Klum--yes the body herself, got her hands on the Caviar Eye Pads and called the very next day first thing in the AM to request more!

Hobnobbing is ALWAYS a Good Time!

Hey Ladies + Gents,
Frankly sometimes pictures are worth a thousand words, especially when you haven't had your full morning coffee! Here are some shots of the party people we were with our last few outings.....not too shabby in my mind ;-) The night in question was one of THE most coveted parties of the Cannes season. Sure Diddy's Yacht parties are a must to go to ( and we did!) where literally all the buzzing worthy gossip went down; But you know you have something special on your hands when the celebrities and VIPs of Cannes go to your party before they even step foot at the Dolce + Gabana Party!
This particular evening the honor fell into the hands of Denise Rich, of "Gabrielle's Angels Foundation" (Previously known as the G+P Foundation)--a foundation that is very close to our hearts,to get us to dance the night away! There was hair Guru Nick Chavez, Diddy ( I'm not sure if people know how much I love this man, just putting it out there--so I always get excited when our hectic schedules actually are in sync and I get to see him) Supermodel Petra Nemcova, Alan Cummings, Our Brand Ambassador Gorgeous Cover Girl Hofit Golan, Star Jones, the Gorgeous Super Male Model Marcus Schenkenberg ( seriously are you looking at this man?), and last but not least ---our Canadians Scott Speedman and Rachel Blanchard ( such a cute couple!)

Cannes and Back Again Day 7!!!!

Day Six ( no not page 6--sorry I couldn't resist!) was hard to top. I think we were still relaxing on the Yacht when our phones began to ring. It was Lady Victoria Hervey - she wanted us to be part of her charity event!! As we were working our first day we put aside 6 bags for her to make sure her VIP's could get their hands on our goodies!

However on the morning of day 7 as I started this blog with, our phone is madly ringing and an excited Lady V on the other line was saying not only have the bags been delivered to Allie Sims, Adrian Brody ( Ummm hello?!!?) Kate Hudson... but now she needs more, she needs for Salma Hayek, Goldie Hawn and Eva Mendes.....

Cannes and Back Again Day 6!!!!

So another roll out of another fun filled day happened on the 6th day of our Cannes Adventure. This day was jam packed....with Yachts, Luncheons and PRESS! and what Girl doesn't love that for a day job?

We started off the day on the lovely Lady Joy, the Cote d'Azur and summer "home" of Denise Rich---all I can say is WOW! It was a small and intimate luncheon of about 35 people... Star Jones, Hofit Golan, Denise Rich with Alan Cummings on his way--- just to name a few. We personally gifted all of the celebs our goody bags and they were SO excited to finally get their hands on the EG bags everyone in Cannes were talking about !

After having a fabulous lunch ( 3 courses of gourmet delight) and oodles of Rose Wine-- it was off to be interviewed for OK Magazine and straight afterwards a filmed interview for a German Television show!!! It all happened so fast - from Germany to the UK - we had to sit down and write our own notes about who we actually saw that day! Just another afternoon in Paradise!

Cannes and Back Again Day Five!!!

As the Atrium/White Lotus Beach was preparing for the 40th Annual Australian Press Conference and Spectacular Dinner we decided to spend our Day Five with a little more luxury than our usually slog by just relaxing on the sandy beach fronts and moving over to yet another luxurious yacht in the afternoon .

But EG definitely did not pass up an opportunity to be interviewed - as we all know EG has a loving home on TSVN in Australia and we love our press! So we decided to create the wonderful Black and Gold Bags specifically just for this occasion. Over 100 Australian members of the press received these bags, which led to an interviewer from Marie Claire Australia to give us a call and set up an interview.... so even on the slower days, we found amazing opportunities!

Even though we were not around all the time on Nikki Beach on Day Five we went to the gift lounge and the gift yacht ( oh yeah I didn't mention that, there was also a Private Yacht so the celebs could get away from it all) . Elizabeth Grant was scooped up and I mean scooped up by the following people: Kelly Rowland, Rachel Leigh Cook, Spike Lee, Elsa Pataky, Ali Simms, Eduardo Veristagui, John Robinson, Danny Masterson, and Svetlana Metkina--- Not too Shabby for a day on the beach!

Cannes and Back Again Day Four!!

It really is quite funny writing the blog after the fact--at moments like this all I can say is THANK YOU APRIL for the re-cap in the word document ;-)
As the days flew by transitioning from day to night to the early AM it was funny when the weekend approached. Weekends normally means relaxation and possible sleep-ins--but this was not the the case to the Torricelumn Girls-- even though, at moments , we truly wished it did!

Friday rolled out after as previously mentioned, that 5am bedtime. We hit the ground running (literally) back to the beach . Usually a run to the beach is indicative of a gorgeous tan but for us the run to the beach just meant a massive workout - No complaints though how else were we going to work off those delicious pain au chocolates?

This Friday was a brilliant press day-- We arrived at our gorgeous office, yes we worked on a beach..... it's a tough job readers' but we were up to the challenge! We stumbled upon the UK Press Luncheon and would you believe it they were more interested in their Elizabeth Grant Goody Bags than they were about the real reason they were at their luncheon! Even though we were a hit with all of them the coordinators asked us if we could keep the bags hidden till the end of the lunch as it was hard to keep everyone's attention on the movies..... Oops. At least the recipients were happy!

That afternoon our French Phone Rings and it is an Italian TV program-- they were interested in any and all of our celebrities who love our product, because let's face it, once anyone tries Elizabeth Grant Products, they are instantly addicted and in love. And we can't blame them... this is one addiction no one has to get treatment for ;-) The Italian TV program asked us for permission for future filming of EG to attend other festivals or awards ceremonies... let's think about that for a second? Bien Sur!!!!

Cannes and Back Again Day Three!

How do we top such a great day - great for both Business and Pleasure? Oh I know--by ensuring that each day that follows maintains the the same level or better!!! Everyday we walked to our office at the White Lotus Atrium Beach and spent the days looking into the gorgeous, blue Mediterranean Sea, listening to the groovin' sounds of the on-site live DJ accompanied by the live Jamba-Bongo Players ( in mighty fine outfits -the on site day entertainment were instructed under the Grecian Gladiator theme!)

But remember I told you we spread ourselves across Cannes and couldn't leave our friends at Nikki Beach behind so we also "set up shop" there! We made sure we would give everyone the pleasure of EG! And who by chance received our Cannes bags this particular day? None other then Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg..... Ya not only were these men thrilled to receive these unisex ,loved by all genders, skincare---but they couldn't wait to grab two extra bags for their significant others ;-)

April was approached to write an article for the official Cannes Blog about Elizabeth Grant Skincare and Margot Grant- We were really excited about this because it shows that the buzz about EG is really growing and we found that this year, in Cannes, we were sought our more that having to do the searching!! And instead of just a quick title mentionwe had a significant chunk of the blog!!

To Finish the Day we were approached by French TV- VSD. We met them on beach and they wanted to film us for the day. We decided this would be a good idea to get some more footage of Hofit! So they followed us to yacht Harle to film us doing a gifting-- it wasn't a huge production BUT definitely worthwhile and very satisfying for us :-)

So how on Earth do we work all day and not go out? Especially in the Fabulousness of Cannes! So we went to two parties, ya I did say two :-) First we had to stop by Mumm's Champagne Party at Atrium White Lotus--- theme parties with free champagne is always a good time! Once we spent a couple hours there we made our way across the street.... to the famous Nikki Club (located this year at the Palais Stephanie) where we partied at the ASW party hobnobbing with talent beyond words and finished our evening at around 4am to make sure we could climb into bed for 5am--Thank God for Biocollasis Eye Cream and Torricelumn because no one needed to know what time we really went to bed ;-)

Cannes and Back Again Day Two!

This was a very different year for us as we didn't want to be stuck in a Gift Lounge all day. We wanted to meet with press, socialize with the stars and just essentially enjoy Cannes to the fullest! And did we ever!

As day one came and went- we made sure that we were where we needed to be. We visited all our locations, met all the people we will affiliated with. This year EG was ALL over Cannes and we made sure that EG's brand new Ampuole Collection was on every celebs face and Elizabeth Grant's name on everyone's lips!

Day Two was so exciting for us as we began the day on the Gorgeous Harle Yacht ( just, another, regular day at the office!!!!!) We had a power meeting with one of Britain's Sensational models, Hofit Golan! How I wish we had known that we were going to be filmed for her TV Show--Celebrity Wire as I would have taken a bit more make up with me. Hofit is also the Host of FTV -- so it was a double wish that we had dressed up a bit more! Haha either way--- after being shown her gorgeous designs for her new fashion venture with other EG fan , Scott Henshall, we were off to talk business!

What business would that be you ask? Well we can officially announce this on the TG blog ( and what better place to made world news then on the official site?) -
We signed Hofit Golan as Elizabeth Grant's new Celebrity/Model Face! Very exciting news for us, and Hofit is THRILLED to be a part of our new direction ( I told you the buzz about EG in Retail didn't I?)

If that wasn't enough - wait there's more! We thought we had accomplished a lot for that one day but apparently the press and the celebrities had another plan in store for us --haha don't they always? We were interviewed by the British Press of The Daily Mail ( where yes we did get our fabulous mention as one of the upcoming stars of the Cannes Film festival)

And how did we end our stay on the Harle Yacht you ask? Good Question... How about personally meeting Petra Nemcova. We handed over an EG gift bag--to which she declared... "This is EXACTLY what I needed getting off the flight, do you have more so I can bathe in it?"

Ya... an international supermodel wants to bathe in EG products, and our spy on the yacht told us that our Rejuvenating Caviar Eye Pads were strewn across her bed daily!!!

Cannes and Back Again Day One!

So Sorry about the delay on all the gossip from Cannes. The wifi and internet connection didn't seem to be in our cards in our luxury penthouse apartment... and from the day we started and were out the door--we never really returned except for a few precious hours of sleep! And by few... I mean - really a few!

From the moment we arrived in glorious Cannes we had adventures galore - from the airport to the beach we never stopped running around - and, oh dear - hardly had any time for stopping... except for a few bites at Lenotre... our favourite Cafe in all of Cannes!

So lets get to the long overdue facts and breakdowns!!! As we arrived at our Office, the gorgeous White Lotus Atrium beach and were starting to prepare the gorgeous set-up we, your Torricleumn Girls were invited to take part in the exclusive re-launch of Emmanuelle. Ha! Ha!! Immediately afterwards we were interviewed for MSN!!! Daily blog double mention!! Amazing ? Yes! (we thought so too! ) The Torricelumn buzz had begun.

We had a full day of planning that followed... but boy was it worth it!

Elizabeth Is Out and About the TJFF

This Sunday not only is Mother's Day, but a very exciting little outing for Elizabeth Grant herself. At the beginning of the month a fantastic woman and organziation got in contact with EG International to discuss the TJFF ( Toronto Jewish Film Festival).

This has been going on all week but why we are so excited is EG herself gets to do a little presentation on Sunday May 11th! After a fascinating film called "The Powder and the Glory", about Helena Rubenstein and Elizabeth Arden, the women who helped forge the cosmetics industry, perfect fit for EG? Yeah, we thought so too!

The parallels between EG and these woman are just far too great to be ignored, all had a passion and more importantly a drive in the age of male dominance they became successful women in the corporate world.

The film is screening on Mothers Day May 11th at 3.30pm at the Bloor Cinema, 506 Bloor Street West. EG has been personally invited to answer questions about her company and the industry and each guest is lucky to receive an eg gift bag! We are quite excited!
