Get Glowing

November is here and the weather has been less than tolerable lately. The summer tan has faded, now a distant memory. Canadians long for that glow again, not to be found until the next holiday trip to St Barths or shhh- whisper it- NEXT summer.

Please try to resist the urge to visit a tanning salon in attempt to get back that healthy glow. If you are EVEN considering such an assault on your skin, read this. One of my favourite beauty bloggers originally posted a press release from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) with some shocking statistics on tanning beds and sun tanning. For example, it is estimated that there will be over 111, 9000 new cases of melanoma in the US this year. For those of you not in know, melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer.

Want an alternative? My favourite beauty trick when November weather gets me down is to add a little self tanner to my daily body lotion. Within hours, you can get a hint of that gorgeous summer glow- safely. My favourite self tanning product is definitely Alluring Bronze by Elizabeth Grant. Make sure to use a little bronzer on your face (Guerlain makes an incredible one) and you are good to go like Alessandra Ambrosio.

The other alternative? Embrace your fair skin. Need some inspiration? Marcia Cross, who we met in August, is the perfect example of fair skinned beauty. She works hard to avoid the sun- rarely stepping out without a hat. When we met with her, she literally jumped from one sun umbrella to the next. Now that is dedication to sun safety.
