Congratulations! Elizabeth Grant Skin Care's President is One of Canada's Most Powerful Women
We are so proud of our president, Marion Witz, as she has just been honoured with a major award from the Women's Executive Network- she is one of Canada's Most Powerful Women, recognized in the Entrepreneur category. Read on below for more on Marion's win.
“It is an incredible honour to be recognized by the Women’s Executive Network as a top entrepreneur,” says Marion. “Elizabeth Grant International has shown tremendous growth and we look forward to continued expansion. This is a special recognition for both myself and the team at Elizabeth Grant International.”
The Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards is Canada’s most recognizable award for the country's highest achieving female leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Marion Witz joins a community of 522 women across Canada who have received this recognition. The complete list of 2010 winners can be found at www.top100women.ca
“Marion takes entrepreneurship to the next level with her devotion to her company, employees, community and with her drive to deliver the best product possible,” says Margot Grant Witz, Public Relations and Marketing Manager at Elizabeth Grant International. “It is no surprise to us at Elizabeth Grant Skin Care that she is being recognized as one of the most powerful women in Canada. We are thrilled for her achievements.”
Marion Witz is based out of Toronto, Canada. She has authored two published books- Elizabeth Grant: My Life- My Story and Stand Up and Talk to 1000 People (And Enjoy It!), helping readers empower their voice and strengthen their expression. In the early 90’s, Marion worked as a voice specialist and was considered one of the country’s leading experts. Then, in 1997, she changed her career path and started Elizabeth Grant International in her North Toronto home, a company that now sells its luxury skin care products on shopping channels around the world. The business has experienced steady growth since its inception and has grown to a corporation that now employs over 100 employees in a 50,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility.
Marion is a role model business woman and is quick to attribute much of Elizabeth Grant Skin Care’s incredible successes to her team. It takes a great leader to grow a business starting from an office in her garage to the successful skin care company Elizabeth Grant International is today. The company has expanded to the USA, UK, Germany, Australia, and Asia. Marion’s vision for the future involves seeing the skin care products becoming a household name brand that will be widely available through traditional retail outlets around the world.
She has received great recognition for her strong and successful entrepreneurial abilities. In May 2006, Marion was selected by the City of Toronto to be a part of the city wide poster campaign, We Build This City, which recognized the experiences of Toronto's most talented and skilled business leaders. She is considered one of Canada’s top women entrepreneurs, having been recognized on the Profit W100’s ranking for last five consecutive years. This year, Marion is honoured to receive a WXN Top 100 award.
Marion Witz has led Elizabeth Grant International to experience tremendous growth, rapidly expanding and delivering its world class products into foreign markets and becoming a multi-million-dollar enterprise. At the same time, Marion dedicates a great deal of effort and resources to charitable organizations, specifically cancer related fundraising and associated programs. Marion is the best example of how passion, dedication, and generosity and are a powerful formula for success.
“Every year, we honour the exceptional female leaders of Canada,” said Pamela Jeffery, Founder, Women’s Executive Network. “They each have remarkable achievements and Top 100 is a mark of their success and how they have supported their communities, companies, and organizations. Our Top 100 community is a powerful group of women who are at the top of their game, exemplify success and empower the next generation of women to take their careers to the next level.”

La Moustache for a Good Cause
This past Friday night out on the town established just what we’d been hoping- that there are a lot of men out there willing to (slightly) modify their good looks for a good cause. Everywhere we turned, guys were sporting the early signs of a growing moustache. Strange normally, yes- but not this month. If you haven’t already heard about Movember, click here to read about the month long initiative that gets men growing ‘staches to raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer.
The Torricelumn Girls have to admit that these men actually looked really good. We were so happy to see that Movember and its appeal is truly spreading. Congrats guys! Consider us your ‘MoSisters’- the term coined for the women supporting the do-good men growing moustaches for Movember.
Elizabeth Grant Skin Care is also doing its part to support Movember. Throughout November- Prostate Cancer Awareness month- Elizabeth Grant Skin Care will donate 50% of proceeds from web sales at elizabethgrant.com of the Grant for Men After Shave Soothing Serum to the Movember Foundation.
The After Shave Soothing Serum is the perfect way wrap up a month long moustache grow session- it refreshes, soothes, and softens the skin after shaving and it also helps reduce redness and irritation.

NYC and the Anti-Aging Diet
The Torricelumn Girls headed down to the big apple this week for the HBA Expo. We attended a few seminars to keep ourselves on top of the happenings in the beauty industry and to sharpen our social media skills. While the information gained is probably a bit too dry (but tres useful!) to share on the blog- we do want to share the most random fact of the expo:
Do you suffer from hyper-pigmentation? This is a major concern for women interested in anti-aging. If you do- stop eating limes!
Who knew? Limes are a cause of blotchy darkened skin. This random fact brought to light some interesting research on diet and how it affects the aging process. Just like the old adage ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ -well, now it’s 'An apple a day keeps the Botox away!' The message here is eat well, stay healthy, and look younger by eating a highly nutritious diet.
For more information on what to eat for an anti-aging diet, click here to read a very informative article on Women Fitness. The basics are- maintaining a diet high in antioxidants, vitamin E, and water will keep you looking younger for longer.
We think it's time that the Torricelumn Girls start to adhere to this anti-aging diet, because while we were in NYC, we may have been eating cupcakes for lunch.

The Essentials Lounge
The lovely and talented Esther Garnick produced a gem of gifting lounge- it was definitely not your regular run-of-the-mill-gift-just-to-gift swag lounges. EGPR’s The Essentials Lounge brought in the best local media personalities and paired them with the products and services that busy media types need to prepare for and survive TIFF.
Elizabeth Grant Skin Care supplied The Socializer - TIFF is the exact sort of event that inspired the creation of this brilliant eye treatment product. The proof is already out there in print- visit the DOSE website to read a column on Toronto publicists and their TIFF survival items. Not one, but TWO publicists named The Socializer as a MUST HAVE for the insane 18 hour work days that are typical of the film festival.
The Essentials Lounge was truly a great day, with great people, and lest we forget- a great gift bag. Media darlings walked away with these amazing goodies:
~ The Socializer by Elizabeth Grant Skin Care
~ Jon Frieda Shampoo & Conditioner, Moisture Barrier Hair Spray, Thermal Protection Serum, and Secret Weapon
~ Vitamin Water
~ ECCO Shoes- 25% off coupon
~ Ra Sun Spa Express Mani Gift Certificate
~ Essie Nail Polish (New colours: Sew Psyched, Limited Addiction, Little Brown Dress, and Merino Cool)
Looking for The Socializer?
You can buy it at www.elizabethgrant.com AND at The Ten Spot

Dream Cream for the Feet
It's been a long summer in our favourite flip flops and sandals. We're not complaining, but our feet are just a little! After a summer spent in the sun with long walks on the beach and running and diving off docks and rocks, our tender tootsies are in need of a little repair.
What about you? Has your summer been spent on the beach or pounding the pavement around the city in gorgeous strappy stilettos? Whatever the case may be, why not do as Ashley Tisdale does? Repair those hands and feet with Elizabeth Grant's Hand & Foot Cream.

Found at the Airport
While waiting for my flight back home this past weekend, I did the usual airport routine. That means, scoping out the duty-free, picking up a copy of Vogue (The Age Issue!), and stocking up on all my favourite celebrity weeklies.
A quick turn to page 66 of Life & Style revealed one of my 'all-time favourite and can't live without' Elizabeth Grant Skin Care products- Biocollasis Complex Ultimate Cellular Concentrate. It turns out that J.Lo is a big fan of this product too. But of course, none of the Torricelumn Girls are surprised about that.
Ultimate Cellular Concentrate delays the signs of aging and repairs the skin- through the use of Plant Stem Cells. Click here to read about this new technology. In short, this super serum changes your skin- it reveals new, fresh looking skin, with less lines and wrinkles, and incredible tone.
Ultimate Cellular Concentrate is so good, as Life & Style points out, that with regular use you might want to ditch your regular foundation and powder and go without makeup. How liberating!

Literary Corner- A little class, a little trash, and a whole lot of inspiration
A couple of new books came onto my radar this week that I was quite taken with and thought the rest of the Torricelumn Girls out there might want to know about them too.
The other book that really caught my attention this week is called ‘Every Monday Matters: 52 ways to make a difference.’ This book is written by Matthew Emerzian and Kelly Bozza. ‘Every Monday Matters’ is based on the premise that most of us hate Mondays- so why not turn it around and use Mondays to make a positive impact and change the ‘image’ of that dreaded first day of the week.
52 Mondays, 52 activities, 52 ways to make a difference. Some of the ideas presented in this book are easier than others. But they are all simple to incorporate into your life. For example, Monday # 21 learn CPR, Monday #24 don’t honk, Monday #35 go exercise, and Monday #44 use online bill pay. Interesting, isn’t it? This is about people taking personal responsibility to make a difference.
Every Monday Matters started as book and now has grown into an incredible foundation that sponsors schools to improve negative situations caused by budget cuts and it also installs the ‘You Matter’ program. Learn more at http://www.everymondaymatters.com/

Look Good Feel Better
Last night the Torricelumn Girls attended the annual Champagne and Crystals event- an annual soirée put on by Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) to honour the companies that the support their vital organization.
Look Good Feel Better is a charitable program founded by the Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association and is committed to helping women manage the appearance related effects of cancer and its treatment. By taking control of how they look, using cosmetics, skincare and hair alternatives, women with cancer can strengthen the positive attitude that is so important in cancer treatment – and feel better about themselves.
Elizabeth Grant International has been a big supporter of the program for several years now by donating products and company time to their initiatives. For this past year, Elizabeth Grant Skin Care donated Eye Renewal Serum for ‘The Confidence Kit’. The kit is given to women attending LGFB workshops held in cancer care centres and hospitals around the country. Eye Renewal Serum is a great product for these women enduring treatment because it’s so moisturizing and soothing to even the most tired skin.
The event is always such an honour to attend, knowing that the company we work for gives so much back to the community. This is one incredible program that Elizabeth Grant International will always support. That said- the Torricelumn Girls found last night a little emotional at times. One woman that spoke at the reception is a 34 year old single mother. She has been attending the workshops over the last 6 months and she expressed how much LGFB has truly helped her in the fight against cancer. Also, on an even more personal level- one of the Torricelumn Girls has dealt with cancer in a close family member over this past year so the whole event really hit close to home (side note- that family member has recently been given a very healthy diagnosis!).
Well, they don’t call the event ‘Cocktails and Crystals’ for nothing- the Torricelumn Girls went home with a great big crystal award. Elizabeth Grant International was recognized as a Ruby Supporter of LGFB for donations of over $200,000. Congratulations Elizabeth Grant International!

The women that have been selected by Hello! Canada for the 2010 Women of the Year are both inspiring and outstanding. Hello!
